Handling gas leaks

If a gas leak is detecetd, ensure your own safety first and take the following actions immediately:
  1. Extinguish all naked flames.
  2. Do not use the telephone or operate any electrical switches and appliances.
  3. Open all windows and doors wide to disperse the gas.
  4. Do not touch any gas appliances.
  5. Switch off the pressure regulator to cut off the gas supply. If possible, disconnect the regulator of the LPG cylinder.
  6. Leave the premises at once and inform your neighbors by knocking on their doors (do not press any doorbells) for immediate evacuation when the gas leak is serious or when the situation is uncertain, leave the building by the stairs, dial 999 to notify the Fire Services Department and call your gas supply company to handle the gas leak.
  7. Do not reconnect the LPG cylinder before taking all necessary steps to prevent gas from leaking again.
  8. Let your gas suppl company check all your gas installations including LPG cylinders and gas appliances before using again.
